Route Plan European trip – Part B

For some reason Turkey has no roads according to Google maps so I had to draw a line somewhere in the region of where we are going.  Anyway, from Italy into Slovenia and a short detour round the coast.

Then onto the Plitvice lakes (B) in Croatia

If I could get a photo like this I would be a happy bunny! Then it’s back along the coast to Split (C) and Dubrovnik (D) in Croatia.

We’ve never been to any of the Balkan countries and have heard and read varying reports – good and bad – we would really like to go and see for ourselves.  From Croatia it’s down into Montenegro and Albania (E and F)

We may go into the mountains, will have to play it by ear and see how we feel when we get there.  We know Greece is going to be a cauldron in August but would like to visit Athens (G) We could stick by the coast and hopefully it would be cooler.  I did suggest to Ian that we consider taking a ferry from Athens to Rhodes and then across to Marmaris in Turkey but he didn’t think much of that idea!  We shall see…………

If we go by the map it’s all the way back up the East coast of Greece thru’ Thessalinika (H) and then along to Alexandroupoli (I) and onto Turkey.  Its a short boat ride across to Canakkale and Troy

Whoops! Not that Troy………… (unfortunately!!)

and then lots of hot dusty miles to Dalaman and this pair………..

So, half way there , wonder how long they’ll put up with us until we get “thrown out” and have to make our way back …………

AGAIN THESE ARE NOT MY PHOTOS AS I HAVEN’T BEEN YET (apart from the last one!)
